Join us this Labor Day at Knight’s Action Park for our first annual Labor Day Ducky Derby! Proceeds from this event will support the families at Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central Illinois.  Ducks are available for purchase now through Monday, September 2, 2019. All ducks purchased will be entered to race the Ducky Derby in the Wild River at Knight’s Action Park on Labor Day afternoon! Admission is free to watch the race and children are welcome! What is a Ducky Derby?

Our Ducky Derby features rubber ducks that will float along the Wild River and through a funnel that will determine the winning duck(s). Each duck has been hand numbered and the ducky with each number purchased will be dumped into the river the day of the race at random via dump truck.

When is it?

The Ducky Derby will take place Labor Day morning, Monday, September 2, 2019, with gates opening at 10:00 a.m. and the race taking place at 11:00 a.m. The race will last approximately 10 minutes, with the winners announced at 11:30 a.m.

Are they real ducks?

No! The race will consist of thousands of rubber ducks!

Do I have to attend the race to win?

You do NOT need to be present at the event to purchase a duck or to win! You can purchase ducks to race even if you are unable to attend the race. Winners will be announced and contacted after the race!

How can I purchase a duck?

Can I adopt a duck the day of the derby?

Yes! You can purchase ducks until the derby begins at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 2, 2019. You can also make a donation anytime on our website to support the House!

How much are ducks?

Ducks are $5, with groups available for purchase:

$25 – Quack Pack (6 ducks)
$50 – Quacker’s Dozen (13 ducks)
$100 Family Flock (30 ducks)
$150 Grand Pack (50 ducks)

Can a duck be purchased by my child or in their name?

Ducks must be purchased by and in the name of an adult age 18 or older.

What are the winning prizes?

Prizes will be awarded to the first three ducks to pass through the funnel! Prizes are as follows: 

First Prize: $2,500 cash
Second Prize:  BUNN Family Farms 1/2 steer of beef
Third Prize: $1,000 groceries from County Market

Do I get to keep the duck after the derby?

No, your duck(s) have the chance to win you an amazing prize, but ducks will be collected by the staff and volunteers to be reused the following year.

What is the celebrity duck race?

The celebrity ducky race will consist of several local celebrities– politicians, community members, radio and news personalities, etc. who will race their giant rubber ducks ducks through a portion of the Wild River, prior to the fully Ducky Derby!

Can I stay at the waterpark after the race?

You are permitted to stay at the waterpark after the Ducky Derby with purchase of admission. Discounted admission is offered to those who purchase a duck for $5 or more, and they will receive a code with purchase.
